The Republic

INFO

Edmund Boom lost his purpose in life when his son died six years ago. On this fateful day, he meets a young man in desperate need of a father figure and Boom’s meaning is restored.

Tony Butt

Tony has been the single driving force in the creation and production of The Republic.  From script to screen he has been relentless in his pursuit and dogmatic in his belief that a well-designed and relevant product can reach a global marketplace and find that rare but overwhelming success.   Tony’s confidence comes from a two-decade study in the art and craft of story design.  He has put his money and time where his mouth is in the production of The Republic.

Frank Barry

A  legendary and muti-disciplined actor from Shea Heights, Frank found his place in the St. John’s theatre and film scene during those heady days of Codco.  Playing the role of our antagonist, Edmund Boom, his expertise brings the nuances of a character that is wounded and estranged. Barry’s portrayal of Edmund Boom has just enough redemptive quality to find his way home. Frank was an early investor via a royalty stake in The Republic.

Nicole Underhay

The St. John’s native has been screen acting her entire adult life.  Nicole spent years on the stage in Toronto’s prestigious Shaw Festival and has held many film screen credits both nationally and internationally. To say we are lucky to have her play the role of Boom’s wife, Mercedes, would be an understatement.  Her emotional reach pulls us into her character and we are left spellbound by her performance.  Nicole was another early royalty investor.
